1. Introduction
Analogic ("the Application") is a vintage Hi-Fi audio player for macOS and Apple TV (tvOS), developed by Paolo Sanzarello. Analogic is built on a simple principle: the music you listen to and the audio files on your hardware are personal and belong to you.
2. What We Collect
We do not collect, receive, store or share any personal information about you. Analogic has no servers of its own that receive your data. Specifically:
- No account is required: You can use every core feature of Analogic without registering or signing in anywhere.
- No telemetry or tracking: Analogic contains no analytics, advertising, behavioral-profiling or third-party crash-reporting libraries.
- Everything stays on your device: Your music library, favorites, equalizer and layout preferences, listening history (Listening Diary), caches and logs are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded by us.
3. Audio Files and Filesystem Access
Analogic only reads the files and folders you explicitly choose to open or import (for example FLAC, ALAC, WAV, DSD, MP3). Access is limited to those locations by the macOS and tvOS sandbox. All audio processing (including Bit-Perfect rendering, equalization, upsampling and level metering) happens in real time on your device.
If you add a network music source (SMB share, WebDAV, or a UPnP/DLNA media server), Analogic connects directly from your device to that server. Any credentials you enter for it are stored in the Keychain of your device and are used only to connect to that server.
4. Network Connections
Analogic connects to the internet or to your local network only for the purposes below. These requests are made directly from your device to the service concerned. We do not see them, and, like any network request, they reveal your IP address to the service that answers.
4.1 Information about artists, albums and tracks
To show liner notes, biographies, cover art, genres, credits and lyrics, Analogic sends the name of the artist, album or track (and, for lyrics, its duration) to public music-information services. No personal data is included. Depending on what is available, these services include:
- MusicBrainz and the Cover Art Archive
- Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons
- Discogs
- Deezer
- TheAudioDB
- NativeDSD
- Open Opus
- Apple's iTunes Search service
- LRCLIB (synchronized lyrics)
Each service handles these requests under its own terms and privacy policy. Information and images retrieved from these services remain subject to their licenses; where required, the source is shown in the Application.
4.2 Last.fm (optional, only if you connect an account)
If you choose to connect your Last.fm account and turn scrobbling on, Analogic sends Last.fm the artist, title, album, duration and start time of the tracks you play, linked to your Last.fm account, so that they appear in your Last.fm profile. Analogic also asks Last.fm for information about artists and albums.
- You provide your own Last.fm API key; no key is bundled with the Application.
- Your Last.fm password is sent to Last.fm once, to sign in, and is not stored by Analogic. Analogic keeps your keys and a session key in the Keychain of your device.
- You can disconnect at any time from the Account tab of Settings, which removes the stored session.
- What Last.fm does with this information is governed by Last.fm's own terms and privacy policy.
4.3 Apple Music (optional)
If you use Apple Music in Analogic, playback and your Apple Music library are accessed through Apple's MusicKit framework, after you grant permission in macOS. Your Apple Music data is handled by Apple and is subject to Apple's terms. Analogic does not send it to any other party.
4.4 Web radio
When you tune a web radio station, Analogic contacts the public Radio-Browser directory to list stations and then connects directly to the station's stream server to play the broadcast.
4.5 Local network output (DLNA / UPnP / Chromecast / AirPlay)
To play on network streamers and renderers (for example WiiM or Naim devices), Analogic discovers devices and streams audio across your local Wi-Fi network. This audio and its metadata do not leave your local network.
5. Local Storage and Deletion
Analogic stores the following on your device: your library database, listening history, caches of information and images retrieved as described above, a queue of scrobbles waiting to be sent (if you use scrobbling), log files, preferences, and the credentials and keys you enter (in the Keychain).
Because we hold no data about you, there is no remote database from which to view, amend or delete anything. To remove local data you can disconnect your accounts in Settings, delete the library and caches from the Application, or uninstall the Application. Items stored in the Keychain can be removed from the Keychain Access application.
6. Children
Analogic does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
7. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date.
